Why should I care about your history?

Students from Sderot and Hamburg are coming together on a theatre stage in Tel Aviv to ask each other the question: „Why should I care about your history?“

A major bilateral theatre project that deals with identity concepts, memorial culture and personal stories between Germany and Israel.

Between Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg and the Kibbutz Gevim in Sderot, this project is going to deal with German history and identity, the Shoah and the German responsibility - from different perspectives.

On the one hand we have German students from the Helmut-Schmidt-Gymnasium in Wilhelmsburg. Most of them do have migration history and are primarily “Muslim-influenced” (“influenced” means due to the origin, but also affected by the environment). On the other hand we have Israeli students from the High School Sha’a HaNegev in Sderot who live in the Kibbutzim near the northern Gaza Strip.

Prejudices, conspiracy theories, half-knowledge and one's own biographies should clash together on the unique stage of the Arab-Hebrew-Theatre in Tel Aviv - Old Jaffa.

The participants of this major theatre project are going to perform to the impressions of their first collaboration in Israel, by dealing with their own and foreign history, across all language barriers to write their own (hi)story!

Was geht mich eure Geschichte an?

In Tel Aviv geraten Jugendliche aus Sderot und Hamburg auf der Bühne aneinander und stellen sich gegenseitig die Frage: "Was geht mich eure Geschichte an?"

Ein bilaterales Theatergroßprojekt, das sich zwischen Deutschland und Israel mit Identitätskonzepten, Zugehörigkeit sowie Erinnerungs- und Gedenkkultur auseinandersetzt.

Zwischen Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg und dem 3 km vom Gazastreifen entfernten Kibbuzim Gevim in Sderot soll in diesem Stück die deutsche Geschichte und Identität sowie die Aufarbeitung des Holocausts und der deutschen Verantwortung - aus verschiedenen Perspektiven - angegangen werden.

Auf der einen Seite durch deutsche Jugendliche mit Migrationshintergrund aus Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg (primär muslimisch-geprägt - „geprägt“ meint aufgrund der Herkunft, aber auch durch das Umfeld); diesen gegenüber gestellt mit israelischen Jugendlichen aus den Siedlungen in der Nähe des nördlichen Gazastreifens: Sderot.

Vorurteile, Verschwörungstheorien, Halbwissen und die eigenen Biografien sollen hierbei in Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg und in Sderot sowie Tel Aviv aufeinanderprallen.

Die SchülerInnen der High School Sha'Ha Negev aus Sderot und des Helmut-Schmidt-Gymnasiums in Wilhelmsburg spielen, im Umgang mit der eignen und fremden Geschichte, über alle Sprachbarrieren hinweg, um eine neue, eigene Geschichte zu schreiben!
